Barcelona And France Star Abidal Diagnosed With Tumour

FC Barcelona have confirmed that leftback Eric Abidal is to have surgery to remove a tumour on his liver later this week.

The star was diagnosed on March 15 have the operation on his liver on March 18 in Barcelona.

Barcelona have not given any indication of how long the French international is expected to be out for.

Abidal has been a key part of Barcelona’s celebrated and much decorated club.

He plays nominally at leftback but has filled in across the defence when injuries require.

We wish him a speedy recovery.



He has played for Monaco, Lille and Lyon in France before moving to Spain.

Liver tumors or hepatic tumors are tumors or growths on or in the liver.

Several distinct types of tumors can develop in the liver because it is made up of various cell types.

These growths can be benign or malignant (cancerous).

They may be discovered on medical imaging - even for a different reason than the cancer itself - or may be present in patients as an abdominal mass, hepatomegaly, abdominal pain, jaundice, or some other liver dysfunction.
