Barça’s online community tops 400,000 fans

FC Barcelona now have more than 400,000 registered users of their online community, making them one of the highest ranked clubs in Europe. The Barça Fans community maintains a direct link between fans from 237 different countries.
Barça’s online community tops 400,000 fansThe Barça Fans community was created in late 2008 to provide a tool to help fans all around the world stay in touch with the club despite the distances involved. The membership of this community recently topped the 400,000 mark.

Barça and its fans in constant contact
This link is basically maintained via the internet and email. The Barça Fan Newsletter is the official electronic newspaper sent to Barça Fans. Registered fans receive fortnightly updates on the latest news, videos, surveys and exclusive offers. The club also occasionally sends special announcements related with signings of players and other particularly important stories.

2010-08-05_VIAJE_07.JPGSupport for Barça knows no frontiers. The 400,000 members of the community show that. A total of 237 nationalities have registered all around the world. Spain is top with almost 77,000 users, followed by the United States (27,000), Venezuela (12,000) and Nigeria (10500). The most common age group is that between 14 and 30 years.

Impact of transfers
Whenever the first team signs a foreign player, this seems to have an immediate impact on the nationality of new members. The most recent example was that of Ibrahim Afellay, whose arrival was greeted by a massive surge in the number of Dutch and Moroccan fans.

Advantages of being a Barça Fan
It doesn’t cost anything to become a Barça Fan. As well as receiving first hand information about the club, members also learn of exclusive fortnightly offers for FCB merchandising, special videos, exclusive screensavers, the chance to give their opinion via surveys and other special content designed for Barcelona supporters.

As well as the Newsletter, Barça Fans get to enjoy special downloads such as the interactive screensavers and can vote for the Player of the Season . There are plenty of competitions with top notch prizes and sometimes discounts on tickets for matches at the Camp Nou or Palau Blaugrana, among the many other benefits of becoming a member of Barça’s online community.
